As an education leader deeply involved in the ambitious NEOM project, I spent four months at the beginning without my wife. Finally in December she was able to join me. This marked the beginning of a thrilling adventure, a journey into the unknown that promised both excitement and challenges.
The vast expanses of desert and the realization that we were in a distant land, far from the familiar, added a layer of awe to our experience. The excitement of exploring NEOM together with Debra made every moment unforgettable. We immersed ourselves in new activities, embracing the spirit of adventure that set us on this journey. We jumped in trying new activities like pickleball, pool, and ping pong.
We also enjoyed a game of chess, but with a twist. The giant yard set added a playful and larger-than-life dimension to the game.
Embarking on a new adventure is never without its challenges. The unknown can be daunting, and the unfamiliarity was something to face. Yet, the beauty of this journey lay in the fact that we faced these challenges together. The shared excitement and mutual support turned the scary into exhilarating, and every challenge became an opportunity to grow, laugh, and learn.
What makes this adventure in NEOM truly special is the companionship of my wife, Debra. As we navigate through our first days in NEOM together, the mix of emotions—surrealism, excitement, fear, and exhilaration—creates a unique blend that sets the tone for the adventure ahead. NEOM is not just a place; it's a canvas for forging new experiences and building a future together. In the vastness of this Saudi Arabian oasis, our togetherness becomes the compass guiding us through the uncharted territories of this ambitious project.
