What We "Build"...

Published: 10/2/2017

I have been amazed watching the impact the new learning spaces have had on our students in the first month of school. We have seen such remarkable examples of authentic learning occurring in the new Collaboratory, Learning Farm, Center For Innovation, Early Learning Tiny Town, and other areas across the campus. As a school of inquiry, innovation, and impact, we are designing programs and spaces that allow students to explore their questions, passions, and interests in a hands-on, experiential learning environment.

However, with all the focus on the spaces it has really made me think about other things that we need to stay focused on “building” as a school community. Here are a few items that I believe are important as we live out our mission and vision for All Saints.

We must “build”

  • The expectation that collaboration and curiosity spark great learning and leadership. We must continue to emphasize activities that move beyond simply thinking but into knowing, from learning into doing.

  • A school culture that enhances overall well-being and personal growth and health in their pursuits.

  • A desire and demand for opportunities for students to lead now and make a difference as 21st Century leaders.

  • A philosophy that emphasizes honor, truth, and wisdom in how we live.

The new learning programs are the vehicles for these core influences to realize the All Saints mission and vision. All of these elements are essential to growing the impact All Saints has on our students and the influence our students have on the world.
